So we know we're supposed to drink water, I mean, it's summer in Sacramento, of course we need water! But water gets SO boring!! Especially when we compare it to other yummy beverages, like WINE for instance. Now wine... that's a drink! However, we know that wine doesn't quench the thirst quite like H2O so how can we spice up our water to make it tolerable throughout the day?
I've got a couple of solutions that may just do the trick for you:
1) Try freezing berries and other fruits and veggies. I normally use sliced strawberries, blueberries and raspberries. You can also use lemons, limes, cucumbers and any melons (sliced into smaller pieces.) Simply put the berries or sliced goodies on a piece of wax paper or cookie sheet and place in the freezer overnight.
The next day, put your frozen fruit & veggies in your glass or bottle of water. Not only will this help cool down your beverage, but it will give you a yummy treat at the end!
2) The next idea I use very regularly is a more flavorful infused water. Slice your favorite flavors into small pieces and place them in a pitcher or mason jar of water. You can use anything you like here: peaches, strawberries, cucumber, melons, bell pepper... etc. I normally slice them to release the flavors and scents so the water can soak the goodness up overnight.
The next day, drink the water. I'd also cut some more produce to freshen up the water a bit. (even add some of your frozen pieces.)
These ideas will add flavor and character, as well as nutrients and minerals to your water. Simply put, it will take away the BORE of plain H2O. Now, drink up! Here are some of my favorite combinations:
Peach, Basil, Lime
Strawberry, Cucumber, Mint
Grapefruit, Apple, Rosemary
Cheers to good health! I'd love to hear some of your great combinations for infused water.
